In January 2024, I was given the incredible opportunity to work as the Art Director for the TV series Gadis Masa, a project that came to me through the production designer, Rabbani Sujak. It was my first time leading an art department team for a series, and naturally, I was nervous stepping into this new role. However, I was lucky to be surrounded by an incredibly supportive and talented team — director Yussuf Yunus, production designer Rabbani Sujak, and DOP Raja Harith Iskandar — who made the process smooth and encouraged me to express my creativity freely.
For Gadis Masa, we set out to build a vibrant, modern world infused with a touch of vintage aesthetic — a curated visual landscape that reflects the heart of the story. During pre-production, we worked closely with Rabbani to translate the design concepts into real spaces, blending color, texture, and style to create something visually striking and cohesive.
The production process itself came with its fair share of challenges, especially managing multiple locations. Coordinating the art team’s movement and ensuring each set was ready on time required careful planning and teamwork. But despite the hectic schedule, it was a fun and fulfilling experience that taught me a lot about leadership, collaboration, and creative problem-solving on set.
